Woodland Walk and Pumpkin Picking
On Friday 9th November, Year 1 had a day of autumn experiences. We started by going to Westgate Woods for an autumn walk. We had lots of fun collecting a range of leaves, cones and berries. It quickly became a game to find the most interesting shape/colour of leaf! We all enjoyed walking through the leaves and using adjectives we had learnt in class to describe what was happening... crunching and rustling are our favourite words!
We then jumped on the bus and headed to Bell's Gardening Outlet where we had the opportunity to explore a range of different pumpkins and squashes. We all chose our own pumpkin to buy and, we used their special measuring pallet to ensure we could afford our choice.
Once back at school we used the abundance of leaves to create some spectacular leaf art. We did leaf rubbings of all shapes and sizes and then we created autumn sun catchers by choosing and arranging leaves to be laminated.
