What a fantastic start we have had back to the new term! We are beginning our theme of 'All afloat on Noah's boat'. This term we will be exploring another bible story alongside some scientific enquiry into floating and sinking.

We were blessed to arrive back at school in the week which Lent commences, this has been really exciting with the children learning the meaning behind why we have Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day), the children were very enthusiastic about this, we have begun a Lent Love chain, the children are drawing and writing moment of kindness onto paper chain links to create a chain of love in our classroom.

This week we have been reading 'Mr Wolfs Pancakes' the children have loved this story, we wrote a shopping List for Mr Wolf and ordered his instructions to make the pancakes, of course we had to check that it was correct by making our own pancakes which we ate with sugar and lemon. A great week to start back on!

Class Love have been graced with the arrival of some very interesting creatures. We have baby caterpillars! They arrived just as we began to learn about lifecycles. We have been concentrating on the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carl, the children have looked at the story for two weeks, they have worked on retelling the story with actions, using puppets and props, comparing his diet to that of a real caterpillar and then walked in the shoes of a real author  creating their own zig zag book. Having the real life caterpillars in our room is fascinating and the children have loved coming in each morning to check on their progress- they are growing quickly.

We have had the bug catchers out and caught minbeasts in our outdoor area to then draw, look closely at with magnifying glasses and write about. In Maths we have been looking at addition and subtraction, solving problems using practical objects adn moving on to writing and solving out own addition and subtraction setences. In PE we have been looking at the different ways we can move our bodies to reflect different feelings/ objects and living creatures, we also looked at how we can comment on someone elses sequence of movements in a constructive way, giving them two things they did well and one thing which they could loook at improving. Great work class Love.
