Term 3- The Young Leaders Award
We are so excited to start our Young Leader Award this term! Archie is the character we will be learning alongside, he sets the challenges and helps motivate us. Through volunteering and taking part in personal, school and community challenges, we will develop understanding of the difference we can make to the world.
At the end of the first week of term, children will bring home their personal challenge sheet - Archie's Challenge Grid. Parents, we would appreciate your support in helping your children to attempt whichever of these challenges they choose.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any of the Year 5 team.
We have started to find out about local and national charities. We have already decided on how we would like to 'serve the community'.
This week, we walked into Boston to identify what needs to change in our community. Wile there we talked about how Boston had changed in the past decades and centuries.
In this session, we were exploring trust and our leadership skills. We took it in turns to lead and follow direction in the 'walk of faith'. We had to use our communication, listening and leadership skills. It relied on us having trust and faith with one and other.
This was our first session, in which we discussed leadership and what makes a good leader. We undertook the Cup Challenge - we had to work as a team to build a tower of cups without touching them, in only 3 minutes!
Remember Archie's favourite phrase -
