Skills around the home
This is an invaluable opportunity to consider what skills we can develop within Year Six children that will prepare them for growing up. By having conversations about bills and finances, answering and speaking on the phone, sending emails or even enlisting children into supporting you with jobs that keep the house hold running will help them to grow and mature.
Sewing - building on their knowledge of making a pencil case, can they make a sock dragon or other sewing creation...
Peeling vegetables, cooking and baking - prepare them for Food Technology lessons (and life!) by peeling carrots and making simple meals like a cottage pie. Weighing ingredients (if your scales are not digital) can be a skill in itself.
Taking responsibility for a house plant
Feeding and cleaning out any pets
Ironing simple garments
