How are we half way through the academic year already? We have achieved so much and there is much more still to come!
This term, we continue our Geography focus as we aim to answer 'Do global changes affect Boston and the wider world?' We will be locating and naming European countries, locating countries in the southern and northern hemispheres and identifying differences between living in the UK and a Mediterranean country.
In RE, we will be continuing our work on the Trinity but digging deeper and broadening our understanding by looking at the meaning of bible verses and how they impact the beliefs of Christians. In week 3, we will be visiting Peterborough Mosque as we share our work on Islam from term 2. It will be an amazing trip and experience for children and staff!
This term in Computing, we revisit algorithms and how to use external hardware on household appliances. We will be discussing how to make simple searches on the internet and how to spot fake news before we look at how we send emails and what is appropriate to send.
In Music, we will be continuing our learning on Ukuleles as we try and learn new chords to play. We will also be composing our own music to a nursery rhyme using invented symbols to represent sounds.
With Mr Melson, we will be developing our orienteering skills by navigating ourselves around school using a map and a compass. With Mr Shortland in PE, we will be learning a new dance from a different country and embedding our country dancing we started last term.
In French, we will be learning how to say colours and in PSHE, we will be learning how to manage our feelings alongside learning how to keep ourselves safe. Finally, in Art, we will be looking at the work of Henri Rousseau and his famous painting 'Tiger in a Tropical Storm'.
What a busy term, but exciting term, we have ahead of us!
Happy New Year to you all and a warm welcome into 2020. We march quickly into the spring term looking at a variety of new skills through various subjects. Our overarching question is 'How does Boston fit into the World?' for our topic and we look forward to learning about the human and physical features, whilst building on our existing map knowledge and exploring where nearby counties are. DT, will allow the children to design and make their own bridge, understanding how structures are made for a purpose. Parents look out for the next event!
In English, we look at Aesops Fables and the structure of writing a narrative. Plenty of drama and art to go alongside it. In Music, the children will be learning to play the ukulele. We are hoping to inspire some musicians this term. For Science, the children will be understanding and learning about animals and humans. A visitor will be popping in to share some information with them. PE will continue to build on existing dance and ball handling skills.
