Happy Easter Diversity Class!
I have just checked Readtheory again. Well done to AD (1st prize), SP (2nd Prize) and HS (3rd prize). Keep up the Readtheory everyone and the next prize winners will be announced on 26th April. Prizes will be awarded when we return to school.
Keep safe and keep in-touch!
Dear Diversity Children and Parents,
Recently we added a plan of various activities for you to complete should you choose, along with various links to games and activities. Many of you have shared with us that you are reading each day which is fantastic!
Some of you have mentioned you're having problems finding our suggested home learning, so I have put a copy at the top (I hope that helps!). There are lots of other useful links, ideas and activities on the 'Indoor Learning' and 'Suggested Home Learning and Useful Links' stars so keep looking!
Lots of you are working hard on read theory-keep it up there will be some prizes, as usual!
As we approach the Easter holidays this will not be updated as we want you to enjoy spending time with your families and hopefully some Easter sunshine. I will be improving my photography skills, reading lots, having family time and preparing your next learning overviews!
However from April 20th you will find a new overview to help you with your learning.
Please keep in-touch.
Thank you to everyone who has sent me emails via the Contact our Teacher page, if any of you want to send pictures of creations or activities you are doing, please send it to the school email address, they will forward it to me :-)
I have a game for you to get your brains in gear - can you write a list of nouns A - Z of foods? Eg. Avacado, beetroot, cabbage (Don't go for the obvious ones!). Race against the clock or a partner...
There are lots of great things going on online to help keep you busy and learning in fun ways - for example, join a million other people livestreaming with Joe Wicks every morning at 9am for a workout to keep fit and healthy. IFrancesca and I will keep trying to do these work outs - they definitely make you work hard so you feel great when you finish them!
Go on https://radioblogging.net/ for an interactive Literacy session with Pie Corbett (we use a lot of his work in school, for example he wrote the Alien Landing - he's fabulous!) - check the site for times, they do live shows through the day and you can watch previous ones any time. Different poets and authors are on each day.
DAVID WALLIAMS fans - you can listen to him read his books aloud - here's the link for Gangsta Granny. https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/gangsta-granny-by-david-walliams-read-by-the-author-audiobook-extract/
Have a look on https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/have-some-fun/ Enjoy storytime with free online books and videos, play games, win prizes, test your knowledge on book-themed quizzes, or even learn how to draw some of your favourite characters.
Hello Diversity Class,
How are you all? It has been lovely to hear from some of you about what you have been up to this week. I've seen and heard about projects, home learning, baking and lots of read-theory. Thank you for messaging me, please keep it up your messaging on the contact us page or getting your grown-ups to share tweets!
There are lots of pages below, with activities for you to complete both on and off screen if you would like to. If there is anything else you need or would like, please just ask.
Take care and keep safe,
Mrs Fulker :-)
PS. Remember how to keep safe online and follow our e-safety rules/charter.
Welcome to Class Diversity! Mrs Fulker is the class teacher with Miss Stanley working as TA with both Year 5 classes.
We voted to name ourselves Diversity as we believe that this virtue is one we should model in todays world. We know that diversity means acceptance and we can show this every day by allowing other people to be the way they are without judging or criticising their actions or beliefs. We linked our understanding of this to the bible, which says ”Honor one and another above yourselves” (Romans 12:10)
We look forward to continuing our learning about America, this term focusing our attention on South America and its physical features. Investigating the Ring of Fire will prompt our learning about volcanoes and earthquakes, how they are formed and why they happen.
Swimming sessions will continue every Monday until Easter. PE will usually be on Tuesday afternoon, however, occasionally these days may change or opportunities for additional sessions will arise so please keep PE kits in school where they are always accessible. Please remind children jewellery is not to be worn during PE sessions (this does include earrings). Thank you.
Please encourage your child to read with you at home. Your child has a read theory log on to practice inference and retrieval. Even though many children now read in their heads, reading aloud is a skill in it's own right and it will build their confidence to do it at home with a sympathetic audience! We are aiming to develop fluency and expression and your help is invaluable. Thank you in advance!

One of our school values is Trust and we trust in the word of the Lord as we remember
'I can do all things through him who strengthens me.' Philippians 4:13
